As a result of the contest to be held in Antalya Cultural Center on September, 2-3, first three pianists in every category will be entitled to participate in masterclass with Gökhan Aybulus on September, 4. The winners of each category will receive a right to be concert soloists with Antalya State Symphony Orchestra under the conductorship of Maestro Gürer Aykal on the evening of September, 4.

Cuban born, Spanish based pianist Ivan "Melon" Lewis is recognised as one of the most talented pianists of his generation. His latest Project is The Cuban Swing Express, which he formed after years of touring the world with different artists, including renowned Spanish Singer Buika, The Cuban Swing Express consists of 10 of the best and most talented Cuban musicians living in Europe and made its debut at L'Alhambra theatre in Paris 15 December 2014. The group combines a mix of traditional and bold new sounds in a unique format, with a repertoire combining compositions by Perez Prado, Benny Moré, Ernesto Lecuona, with reworked Herbie Hancock and Rolling Stones songs as well as "Melon’s" own compositions. “Melon” comes from a musical family. His father, Ricardo Gonzalez Duquesne, former conductor of the renowned 60s Orquesta de Música Moderna de Pinar del Rio was a major childhood influence. The Cuban Swing Express goes back to the sound of that era, but adds current elements; creating a fresh and completely original musical mixture. The Cuban Swing Express is guaranteed to bring the house down!

Dhafer Youssef is coming back to Turkey in order to share his album of Diwan of Beauty and Odd which he has published after his album of Birds Requiem which has been sold over fifty thousand worldwide with the music lovers. In the album whose preparations were made in the Sear Sound Studios in New York, the artist was accompanied by the piano of Aaron Parks, bass of Ben Willams, timpano of Mark Guilliana and trumpet of Ambrose Akinmusire. Dhafer Youssef is getting ready to give the audience a magical concert again, which will also be the closing concert of the festival.
Laura de los Angeles

At the age of 22, bringing a fresh breath to the world of Flamenco and having her signature under all the musicals in her first album "El Callejon del Agua", she took her place among the most important female Flamenco artists with the identity of an artist, pianist and singer.


Her brilliant career has been nominated and awarded in many categories, and she has also carried her music and reputation outside of Spain and performed tours in Europe and South America. Performing musical collaborations with artists such as Juanes, Calixto Sánchez, Nano of Jerez, The Pole, Laura Vital, Juan Valderrama, Miguel of Tena and Manolo Franco, the artist, in 2013-2014c ame to an agreement with the record company "Entredos" of the Spain National Flamenco Ballet. Laura de los Angeles, who has released her second album "Mi Nueva Esperanza" in 2014, was also praised for the videos that she shot for the songs on this album. In the autumn of 2016-2017, she met with great interest of the audience in the Seville Festival and continues to give concerts in different cities of the world.


Laura de los Angeles, who has a versatile career by enriching her vocal performance with piano and dance, will offer the audience an unforgettable musical feast for the first time in a concert in Antalya, Turkey. Laura de los Angeles's talented touches on the piano and the dance that reflects the Flamenco spirit will open the doors of a passionate world slightly for us.


Gürer Aykal
Conductor

He was born in Eskişehir, in year 1942. He started his musical education at the Ankara State Conservatory in 1953. He had graduated from the Violin department in 1963 as student of Necdet Remzi Atak. After that, Gürer Aykal started the composing department and he had graduated in 1969 as student of Ahmet Saygun. On the very same year, he went to England with the state scholarship he was rewarded to attend his education on conducting. He worked with world-famous conductors in England. He completed the Guildhall Music School and Royal Music Academy Advanced Conductorship departmenst with degree of first ranks. Aykal returned to Turkey after graduating from Rome Santa Cecilia Academy with his assistantship of Franco Ferrara in year 1973 and received a Mark of Conductorship from Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Italy. He was assigned as the permanent conductor of the Presidential Symphony Orchestra in 1975. Aykal has conducted the events of the Ankara Chamber Orchestra which he formed with Suna Kan domestically as well as over a hundred concerts abroad. He was awarded the title of Artist of the State in 1981 due to his international services and successes on music area. Aykal has performed as conductor and general music director in the United States of America for sixteen years and he carried out the titles as Permanent Conductor and General Music Director of El Paso Texas Symphony Orchestra between 1991 – 2003 years in addition to that he also received a title of honorary professor from the university of which this orchestra is affiliated. Aykal, on the one hand is currently on duty as the honorary conductor of the Borusan İstanbul Philharmonic Orchestra which he formed in 1999 and on the other hand he continues his job as Academician at Bilkent University and as Art Director of International Antalya Piano Festival.



Antalya State Symphony Orchestra

Established in 1995 as Antalya Chamber Orchestra and given various concerts in this status, the orchestra changed its name as “Antalya State Symphony Orchestra” in 1997 as a result of the Council of Ministers’ resolution. The Antalya State Symphony Orchestra having an importance place in the Antalya’s cultural life, significantly contributes to the advertising of both the area and Turkey and supports the development of the national tourism.


During the season it brings together thousands of domestic and foreign art-lovers together at Antalya Culture Center, Aspendos Theatre and in the concerts organized as parts of International Side Arts and Culture Festival. With its educatory concerts, the orchestra reached numerous students.


Up to the present, the orchestra has been working under the conductorship of many famous Turkish names including İnci Özdil, Gürer Aykal, Hikmet Şimşek, Rengim Gökmen, Emin Güven Yaşlıçam, Ender Sakpınar, Cem Mansur and Erol Erdinç; also accompanied the Turkish soloists like İdil Biret, Suna Kan, Verda Erman, Ayşegül Sarıca, Gülsin Onay, Ayla Caymaz, Taşkın Oray, Cihat Aşkın, Mehveç Emeç, Muhittin Demiriz, Yıldız İbrahimova, Aytül Büyüksaraç and Emre Elivar, beside many others.


Kenan Tatlıcı

Kenan Tatlıcı, who won the “Second Prize” in “Euterpe International Piano Competition” and “Piano Competition Pietro Argento”, practiced with Prof. Binnur Ekber at Ankara State Conservatory of Hacettepe University between the years of 2000-2007. After that, he continued his education at Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow by practicing with Prof. Yury Martynov, and he graduated from the same institution in 2015.


During his education in Moscow, he won the “Second Prize” in the 2nd Ahmet Adnan Saygun Piano Competition and “Jury’s Special Award” in the Piano Competition at Ankara State Conservatory of Hacettepe University. He also appeared in numerous concerts organized in big centers such as Rachmaninov hall, Small hall, White hall of Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow, Yamaha Center/Moscow, IFTAN Concert Hall/Moscow, White Hall in Saint-Petersburg Technical University, Gioia del Colle Rossini Theater (Bari/Italy), Al Hussein Cultural Center/Amman (Jordan), Royal Concert Hall/Amman (Jordan), Süreyya Opera House (İstanbul), Zorlu PSM (İstanbul), Bellapais (Cyprus), Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center (İzmir), İKSEV Concert Hall (İzmir), TRT İstanbul Broadcasting House (Turkey), M Hall of Hacettepe University (Ankara).


Among the musicians and societies whom he shared the stage with are Cihat Aşkın, İbrahim Yazıcı,Burak Tüzün, Can Okan, Onur Özkaya, İrina Nikotina, Angela Ahıskal, Nikolay Pronin, Ayako Tanabe, Eurasia Philarmonic Orchestra, İzmir Festival Orchestra, Presidential Symphony Orchestra, Regional State Symphony Orchestra/Bursa, Academic Symphony Orchestra of Hacettepe University.


Moreover, Kenan Tatlıcı, who actively attended to a lot of master classes, practiced with famous pianists such as Lilya Zilberstein, Sergey Schepkin, İdil Biret, Gülsin Onay, Mauricio Vallina, Marina Mdivani, Muza Rubazkyte, Sergey Kudryakov as well.


Between 2016-2018, Kenan Tatlıcı was founded by Contemporary Education Foundation (ÇEV) in the “Young Talents Project”. Now he is continuing his education in the program of “Qualification in Art” at Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory.

Dhafer Youssef

The artist who has grabbed the attention of the jazz world with his album of Malak which has been recorded in the year of 1999, has also worked with Nils Petter Molvaer, Bugge Wesseltoft and Arto Tunçboyacıyan. The Tunisian lute player, singer and composer who interprets his music consists of blending the Sufi tradition, the jazz elements and Arabic lyricism in a unique style, has recorded eight musical albums to date and performed hundreds of live performances around the world and always brought his musical advancement to a higher level.


The main contrast and beauty in the last album are based on different perceptions, ideas that contradict each other and clearly separate from each other and again stating that the beauty is relative. It is possible to hear the passionate and peaceful voice of the artist who describes the point of origin of the album in the expression of "There is no definite example of beauty" beyond the borders of music.


Dhafer Youssef, who interprets music as a life elixir, a religion, during speaking of the fact that the music is transparent says that: "Music evolves everything that are considered to be hard and insurmountable by us into permeable, soft and lighter forms. “


The artist who combines electronic, symphonic, oriental and jazz tunes with music without being disconnected from tradition is coming back to bring us to the universe that we are unaccustomed to with his album of Diwan of Beauty and Odd.
